I have half of 454 with 70-year starter, said schewing keep teeth 168 teeth on the wheel tried to shim
I guess the wheel 168 has actually 170. I tried everything I know, but still can not solve the probum. tried the fit and all those still to no avail. I fool with a lot GM engine in my life but never had such problems … thank you for what ever help you can give. Dean
I've had this problem before.take engine boot and put it in the bank to put your screws in it and see if they move around around.they should be firm, if you do not need a fresh start nose.when you buy a new starter always check the starter in your auto shop with new screws, most auto shops have to rebuild local and if not broken to be rebuilt and put into a box and send it — hope this can help
