Snow-flakes that stay on my nose and eye-lashes,

Betel nut hsiao jies in bright, pretty minis
Those cool NT dollars I think of as pennies
Five folks on one motorbike, Tai Chi at dawn
These are some things that I love in Taiwan.
Chou dofu each morning–I smell open sewers
Evenings it’s chicken butts barbied on skewers
Incense and ghost money blend with the smell
And Mormons on bikes try to save us from ‘ell.
Beheaded chickens, pig organs on meat hooks,
Cobra blood drinkers in night markets, snake cooks
People like sardines are canned on the bus
Taiwan’s a great place for people like us!
I hope no one takes offense at any of this. I love Taiwan and have nothing against Mormons. Happy Holidays!
