Tub Shower
Can I install a shower with a bathtub-shaped oval?
I'm going to gut my bathroom and have been looking at new bathtubs. I like the look of the drop in the type of oval bathtubs, but I'm not sure if a member of a bathroom shower in traditional work with this type of tub. My instinct is that water can not drain properly, and disaster will follow. I do not have space for a separate shower area, so the tub / shower needs to stay as a unit. thanks!
Do not try to incorporate a drop in the type of bath with shower. Your instincts are correct. Disaster followed (even if its for a long period of time. Descent into oval tubs are not designed for use with a shower. The only (repeat) of the means with which to work safely is if you use a circular shower curtain, like the old style claw foot tubs used – which may seem a bit strange. Otherwise, water will (repeat) accumulate in the corners and seep under the edge of the tub – No matter the amount of silicone used. You can get an oval tub is designed for tile-in. More money now, but now (repeat now) less money down the road.
