treatment for rheumatoid arthritis
What will happen to me if I don’t get treatment rheumatoid arthritis?
I am currently in college, and on my parent’s health insurance plan. I am 21 now, and turn 22 in the end of Feb, and I will no longer get health insurance. I have been having a lot of joint problems, and my doctor suggested it may be early signs of RA and wanted to send me to a rheumatologist. But I feel like it is pointless, since I won’t have health insurance in 2 months, and private insurance won’t cover RA.
What is going to happen to me? Is there anything I can do without insurance?
I use loans to pay for college, so I cannot drop out and find a full time job, or my loans will be in repayment and I will not yet have a degree. And I cannot go to school part-time (or I cannot get federal aid.)
I do agree with the other people that have posted, that you do need to see a doctor now. When you do see a rheumatologist ask him or her if they can know anyways to help you stay on the meds and to pay to just see them. They should know something.
Getting early treatment is best. It will help detour the joint damage that can happen. The longer amount of time that you are not taking a BIOLOGIC (a type of medicine) the more you body will damage your joints. RA is an auto-immune disorder. That means your body attacks itself. Like when you get a cold, your body will attack the bacteria or virus. Only some how it turned on you.
