Do middle eastern Muslims support Black Moslems in the US?
First is there such a thing call “black Moslem’s”? How do they interact with each other? Do they despise each other or are they brother in arms? Are black Moslem’s harassed and under scrutiny like middle eastern muslims? Is it more racial with black Moslem’s and more religious fervor with arabic muslims? Your thoughts?
In Islam, we don’t separate ourselves based on race. So there aren’t “Arab Muslims” and “black Moslems”. We’re all Muslims. I live in Canada but we go to the same mosques, same Islamic schools, and many are friends. In my school, there is a Muslim club and people from all races – white, black, Arab, East Asian, etc – are part of it. We all get along fine. I believe the same happens in America, as my cousins attend yearly gatherings in America for Muslims where there are lectures and social gatherings.
I don’t mean to say that no Muslim is racist, there are racists out there, but more often than not, Muslims are accepting of each other. I haven’t heard of Muslims getting harassed at all where I live – black or white. If Muslim women or men are “visibly Muslim” (ie. wear the hijab, long beard, the hat, etc) then they may get looks, regardless of race.
