What could have beaten a column / Back Pain?

My roommate getting shot from behind a couch and flipped landing on the diagonal of the spine in the arm of the sofa … it's a residence hall for the arms are wood. Still, she wonders what she might do to address this, since they will not have access to physio for another week.
