Any ideas on support braces or sleeves for an arthritic knee that will keep pain and injury to a minimum?
In 1993, I suffered a strain injury of my right knee, requiring PT but not surgery. It was similar to a torn ACL but not as serious. However, as of about 4 years ago, it has developed arthritic symptoms, inflammation, and pain after I’m on my feet for more than a few hours. I have a temp job coming up in which moving heavy furniture is involved. Im aware of safety practices regarding lifting, but since the damage has already been done, I need options involving taping or bracing the knee to keep pain and further injury to a minimum.

Braces cannot cure OA and may not be right for everyone. However, it is a viable solution for many people. The ideal candidates are typically active people who are motivated to strengthen their muscles and willing to wear a brace to realize the benefits of this form of treatment.

Don’t expect a brace to feel good from the start. It may take from a week to a month to get used to how the brace feels on your leg. Be patient. It took a long time for your knee OA to develop.
