Shoulder Support
How do you support someone who is having trouble walking?
What I mean to say is, is there a proper way to (hold) support someone when they sling their arm over your shoulder (or you sling their arm over your shoulder) in an effort to help them become mobile on you.
Think of every war movie you have ever seen, when someone gets hit and another person grabs them somewhat around the waist and puts their arm around their neck.
Perhaps this is just a dumb question, but whilst in this position, it would be assumed the person in need of the support would already be hurt, and should something be ‘improper’ whilst helping them, they may experiance even more pain.
Well if you’re talking about the war movies, it’s generally urgent to get the injured person away from the combat zone as quickly as possible, so possibly causing more pain isn’t the major concern. As long as there aren’t any spine or neck injuries, moving them won’t be as dangerous as leaving them in the danger zone.
If you’re talking about just in general, say someone falls and sprains their ankle and you’re helping them, there isn’t really anything you could do to hurt them. Just have them lean most of their weight on you so that when they step with their injured leg as little weight as possible is on it. Or support them enough they can hop on their good leg.
