its huge gone hard and purple and its throbbing even the veins are sticking out?

i whacked my thumb with a hammer is there anything the doctors can do with a bust thumb or should i just run it under the tap so it goes down….i’d really like a nice fit nurse to sort it out for me…any suggestions?
