How to build a makeshift trap to play on stage acting in?

In my community theater, I'm playing the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz, and the character that plays the evil witch needs access to a trap or some method of escape invisible "magic". This is why several of its inputs and fusion scene. In addition, once to build the trap, how do I make a platform type lift up and down the trap door? Thanks

Do you have space on stage? If not, no way to build a trap.
