Pad Wrap
I want to make pad Thai, but I have a problem with the tamarind?
Most recipes call for tamarind Pad Thai, but I could found before. I finally found the tamarind in a wigwam. One of them was a black tamarind block wrapped in plastic. In second place was a small vial tamarind concentrate that was very dark black. The third was a jar of tamarind sauce made by Knorr. This was red. I thought this was very strange, b / c I've eaten Pad Thai before and usually had a reddish color to it. However, the tamarind I found here is all black except Knorr tamarind sauce. I bought tamarind concentrate, and now I think I made a mistake buying this. Did I buy it correct? I read somewhere tamarind is supposed to be red sauce is not dark black. How do I use this black tamarind concentrate? Would my book very black Thai? I want to do something really good thing to pad Thai more suited to my palette. I do not like heavy thick pad Thai are sold at my local Thai places.
Tamarind just adds a little spice to their food. The one I bought is a sort of reddish brown. Laxmi is the brand. The owners of the eastern markets recommended. Start the system with the amount the recipe calls to see if that's what you like and then add a little more if needed. You may want to try the tamarind paste first to see how much of that taste you want in your food. We hope that their pad Thai is great!
