Open toe or foot closely with mini skirt?

I apologize for asking that questions of modern man, but crossdress and for the first time I will use a skirt in public, so am a little nervous. With a skirt, I use the foot or toe heels close? I am not the use of wearing heels, is 2 inches long ok?
