Open Knee

knee surgery, arthroscopy or open?
witch i can have another knee surgery will be my third and im only 16. and my doc wants to make another Arthroscopic surgery not, I want to open knee surgery, so that my doctor can see inside the knee and not through a small camera, but I need the benefits of open knee surgery as opposed to the arthroscopy
Well, the pro of having knee surgery done through an open incision, is that it is easier for the surgeon to navigate and work, because the field is open and clear. It also gives a better visual joint as a whole, while the scope that only they can see a certain amount of area at a time and you have to work through the joint and the piece to all sectors together in his mind and on the monitor. Then there are the disadvantages of an open incision, which is the longer recovery time and as an increased risk of infection. I always say that the main issue to be addressed when it comes to BA or not surgery should be done via an open incision or arthroscopy, is how can we reach the affected area, repair and exit. In some cases, arthroscopy may provide better access, but in most cases, especially in the more esoteric, the ideal way to access the area is through an open incision. You will find if you do some searching little in the statistics, which tends to be a much higher failure rate with arthroscopic surgery rather than open surgery and the reason is the result of what I said above regarding the incision open equals better access and better presented visually. There are several scenarios that could be in play here with his case. A being that the surgeon is a surgeon who routinely performs surgeries in scope and therefore are not as confident in their thinking to address the problem this way. It might be that he or she is not considering the incision open only because many people have demanded more and more surgery is performed through arthroscopy, laparoscopy and minimal and other less invasive surgical techniques and are therefore trying to keep their customers satisfied. Then, there is always a scenario in which the surgeon has two options considered and weighed against each other, but still feels that if arthroscopicaly try a third time is the choice better overall. In any case you should never go through something like this unless you are sure your surgeon. After all, you are putting your health and wellbeing in their hands by the amount of time that is on the operating table while recovering after the fact. If you do not feel like he or she is making the call correct, then you should seek a second opinion. There is nothing wrong with that at all and, in fact, is considered quite standard nowadays. Another option consider discussing with your surgeon is in greater depth. In many cases, many patients do not participate and do not educate themselves about their medical problems. They are happy just give it to your doctor and trust him or her to make the right calls. That's why many doctors only give the final diagnosis and diagnosis and treatment plan without entering into discussion about why to choose the method B by one method or the method of C on the method D. So, if you let them know you're not one of those people and you want to know why he or she is choosing to do this third surgery through the scope and not through an open incision, then you may be surprised by what they have to say. I do not know if this is a third of the exact same surgery or not, but if your problem is and continues to repeat, then my thoughts, both from a medical standpoint and personnel would be to push the open or consult a new doctor. Having that short period of recovery is good, but if the scope is not doing the job what is the point?
