How can I get this magnetic card reader to work?

I have a magnetic card reader Omron. Using a connection serial data, and ps2 for power. I have it connected to the serial port for COM1. I open HyperTerminal, and set in 9600, and then click OK. When slide through a card i, nothing happens, but when you press any key on the keyboard, display certain characters. when disconnecting the card reader, and try character writing, no response. How can I get this job? The model number is 3s5yr, and here is additional information * Connects to RS232C port for PC and any other peripherals. * Protocol type of response command, controllable by the host. * No external power required. * Reader smart cards with automatic parity check of the magnetic data Magtek I went to the site, and could not find any information on how get this job.
