Mouth Gum

If you have a cut in the gum (mouth) that can turn into a cold sore?

I bite my lips and gums, sometimes for no reason (a habit). When that happened, and who tried to heal it will start soon, but it has been about a year and that has hurt. Still cut in the mouth, but only heal without harm. Are they cold sores???
