Rehabilitation occurs before or after discharge?

A friend of mine broke his tibia (shin bone) and severely tore ligaments his knee, while in the U.S. Army. My question is, physical rehabilitation and surgery may pass before it is granted a medical leave? Also: Will always have a limp?

The entire rehabilitation process must happen before it is medically discharged, and as someone said, a high care is not guaranteed. I broke my hip while on active duty and spent a year trying to fix the Army. They could not therefore passed another 6 months going through the medical discharge. I had to extend beyond my ETS in order to complete the download. If you get medically discharged, according to their value in VA may be eligible for medical care, even after being discharged. Furthermore, there is no way that any user here to say whether it will have a limp or not, depending on their healing process. Good luck to your friend!
