how can i fix an error massage such as: “Access is denied” when i am trying to access local drive C? ?

this problem occured after installing the anti virus (avast! Version 4.8 Professional) on my latop with a windows xp, and deleting the viruses. After deletion when i tried to open local drive c:, i encountered an error massage such as: ” Access is denied”. But when i try to access local drive C from Folders icon on the tool bar, there is no problem. how can i fix this problem.

Use system restore.

Go to start then all programs then accessories then system tools then system restore then restore my computer to an earlier date.
