What is white latex Modified thinset?
We are putting some tile that says "must wear WHITE LATEX modified thinset. What is really necessary and use that particular type w / insertion of small stacked tiles and tiles stacked says we have to use the "modified" thinset. HELP!
Modified thinset has added a polymer to which the thinset gives much more strength and rigidity. White is usually specified for the tiles that are translucent or clear. Using a gray thinset on the tiles (usually glass or stone, as white marble, onyx, etc. ..) darkens dramatically the look and color of the plant. Glass also reacts to changes in temperature much more than stone. Using the cheapest of the United Nations under the glass modified thinset can lead to burst glass loose after a short time. This happens faster in shower walls to the outer wall of the house. A cold day and a hot shower, I saw glass tiles actually crack shear forces, since settled without following manufacturer's instructions. Also, remember that you void any warranty if you do not follow their recommendations. Good luck!
