Electronic VS Regular Stethoscopes
With the latest developments in technology, everything seems to be evolving little by little. This does not only apply to technological things, but also to things that we are not expecting to possibly become advanced. One example would be a stethoscope. Regardless of it being a cardiology stethoscope, a Littman stethoscope, or even the widely used MDF stethoscope, technology has found its way to change the usual doctor’s pal.
However, most people would like to find out which of these two is better and more reliable?
Of course, a regular stethoscope has the usual earpiece and chest piece. A doctor knows how to use it even before he/she steps into the world of medicine, since it is conventionally used by most doctors over the ages.
On the other hand, an electronic counterpart of the equipment has more features and capabilities. For one, it can record the sound that the doctor hears whenever he/she places it in a certain body part. This is something beneficial for doctors who are having a hard time remembering or recording the data on their own. Another is that some electronic equipment has a display which tells the doctor about the regularity of a particular body part’s sound. A pediatric stethoscope might not need these features, but the other three (Littman stethoscope, MDF stethoscope and Cardiology stethoscope) might benefit from these.
Although, one disadvantage of the electronic version is that it runs in those small round batteries. A doctor might not use it fully if the battery goes to a low level, so he/she should have it checked in a regular basis. This might not be a problem for a pediatric stethoscope.
Go and take your pick, but be sure to train yourself first before anything else!
