How to use toilet papers properly?

I want some advice on how to use toilet papers(In my country we dont use toilet papers.We use bottom showers.)
1)How much toilet paper sheets do you normally use to clean?
2)Do you wet it with water before use it to clean ?
3)Where do i put the toilet paper after using it?
I have heard that some toilet has bins to put the toilet papers.But doesnt it stink when you use bins to put it?Cant i just put it in to the commode?
4)Does it stink if we just use toilet papers without wash the area with toilet papers?

Bottom showers are more hygienic I guess, it all depends on your culture and country of origin. Australians Americans and English all use toilet paper and they don’t stink any more than other people.
Sensible question if you are visiting. I remember my amazement at the street loos in France on my first visit -the “squat over the hole” types with a gap under the screen! or the lady attendant in the men’s [don't forget her tip!]. Everywhere is different and you get acclimatised to your own customs I guess. Hope this helps.
