OFGEM is the regulator of national suppliers gas and electricity. I suggest you complain to British Gas but first owned. Utilities often use sales agents at home, and as they handle these people directly, are not aware of unethical or illegal tactics they use. utility companies can be fined large amounts of this type of mis-selling (npower was fined EUR 1.8 million late last year), so I hope BG will be very willing to make peace with you, especially if you clear your next step will be a complaint to OFGEM …
