Why is my blood of the black menstrual period?

I usually have black blood in Dark Brown / come in the first and last day my period, but this time it was the whole period. I took a pregnancy test w / a negative result, but now is my day 7 and my period usually lasts only 5-6 days w / regular blood between them. I have not received any cramps either. Is there anything I could be wrong or should I wait and take another pregnancy test later?
