Bedside Commode

Is too cold air conditioning bad for COPD sufferers? If so, why?
Very close family member of mine who suffers from COPD and CHF, insists on having very cool room, and for about a month now has been sleeping in a room where air conditioner is at same level as the bed where she lays and sits 24 hours a day. Only thing keeping too much cold air away from her is the bedside commode and the wheelchair right behind it.
If by some chance either of these two last items are moved away a bit, she immediatedly starts complaining up to the point sometimes of getting upset or agitated. I must ad she’s also treated for high Blood Pressure and always, always complained about heat even when the other two illnesses had not been diagnosed.
I’m worried already since she is getting a lot of stuffy nose!
Cold air is thicker, believe it or not…When my COPD patients are in a heat wave [and a "heat wave" can be anything from 70 degrees to as high as 100 degrees], they complain that the air is too thin, they can’t breath, or get a breath…
plus the coolness just feels better…Remember, they are expending a lot of energy just to be normal/breath…that expenditure creates heat…they may be cool to the touch, but they are warm inside…
So, if i may make a suggestion-
And ONLY do this at your relative’s house…. get an extra pair of long johns…
And what ever you do, DON’T WEAR THEM IN PUBLIC…We are not ready for you to make a fashion statement…
