what is a safe way to use a battery charger with a 4 amp output to keep it from over chargeing?

i have a 7.2V 1500Mah 6 cell nicad and a 7.2V 3000Mah 6 cell NiMH battery and im useing a 4 amp battery charger. how would i keep from overchargeing the batteries useing the 4 amp charger?

If the charger isn’t designed for NiCad and NiMH batteries you shouldn’t use it to try to charge them. Unless it’s a “smart” charger designed for both NiCad and NiMH chemistry it could be dangerous.
